Ayana Saji

Instructor Kyokushin – Hartford YMCA

Ayana Saji had the great pleasure of meeting Kaicho Farzinzad and his wonderful wife Shihan in the fall of 2003 while looking for a suitable and affordable, quality karate class for her then 5 year old son Joshua. She found the perfect place located just blocks from her home in Hartford CT.

Once enrolled in the karate class with Kaicho, she and her son found a martial art form she had never heard of – Kyokushin. Being very protective of her son, Ayana found it hard at first but through a comforting atmosphere and by observing Kaicho and his wife teach this art form it became very easy to trust her son in their loving, patient hands.

Eight years later Joshua earned his black belt. A year after her son began training Ayana decided to also train instead of sitting and watching while her son trained, as the positive changes began to show greatly in her son. She has so far attained the rank of brown belt and is now in training for her black belt.

Having had previous Tae Kwon Do training as a child and a teen she is no stranger to the martial arts world of intense training and the benefits of IKU training of not only the body, but the mind and spirit as well. Ayana has now taken on the task of training the children and adults of the Hartford YMCA under the umbrella of IKU in an effort to provide the residents of Hartford and the surrounding areas the with an opportunity to train, and become the best they can become in the spirit of the IKU family.

True Meaning of Kyokushin

The Kyokushin Way is centered in posture…

“Kyokushin” means “Ultimate Truth” and Kyokushin Karate is the pursuit of ultimate truth of mind, technique, and body.
